About

Hi, I’m Annika Tague and here’s the boring (but important) spiel: I’m a former bookseller and publishing professional with a Bachelor in Creative Writing (with distinction), a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies, and a Master of Creative Writing. I am registered professional member of IPEd (Institute of Professional Editors).

After studying and spending four years on the ground level of the book market, keeping a close eye on reading trends, I made my foray into the Australian publishing industry. During this time, I worked in both sales and product roles, across the distribution of local Australian and international titles. Publishing taught me a heck of a lot, and I value everything I learnt during my time in the trade.

But in order to get my hands dirty, I decided to leave and work as a freelance editor, coach and content writer. I wanted to create and I wanted to help others with their creations. I’ve now worked on the editorial of commercial fiction and non-fiction titles for various publishing houses across Australia. My written work has been published in Mamamia, Good Reading Magazine, Side-Note and Fashion Industry Broadcast and I’ve worked with big name brands like Go-To Skincare, BedThreads and Hnry.

I’m a Faber Writing Academy alumnus, having undertaken the Writing a Novel Course (2023) to better my practice as a writer and to closely study the construction of the novel. I’m also a Write Earn Thrive 'thriver' – a course conducted by The Freelancer's Year specialising in writing content for B2B and B2C clients.

So, yeah – I’ve pretty much dedicated my whole working career to words and storytelling.

I live with my fiancé, my cat named Winnie, and my dog named Teddy and am currently working on my debut novel, a family drama set in the heart of wine country.

I read widely, from commercial to literary fiction, from romance to crime, historical and contemporary. My favourite writers are Ottessa Moshfegh, Ann Patchett, Donna Tartt, Lydia Davis, Holly Ringland, Lisa Taddeo, Caroline O'Donoghue and Sally Hepworth, to name a few.
